4 Different Type Of Film Opening
There are 4 different type of film opening which include Titles on a blank screen, Titles on still images, Titles on moving images and Titles using animation or motion.
The convention of this film opening is white text on a black screen but i can be any colour and font.
These are very low budget as they are simple and no filming is needed.
It is a simple and uncomplicated way to introduce characters, story and narrative. They would usually have a soundtrack on in the background.
Movies that have this are Psycho, Pulp Fiction etc.
Titles on Still Images:
These are more elaborate than using a blank screen as it is more advanced.
This incorporates visual elements which could give away narrative and is clear.
It was when this was introduced when credit started to become longer and were more appreciated.
Movies that have this are Wimbledon
Titles over Moving Images:
Conventionally, this would consist of a moving image (video) with titles over the top along with sound (maybe with dialogue)
This gives away more narrative as more is shown and voice overs may be included.
The moving images may insist of symbols, metaphors or anything else that could represent the movie and give away context and narrative.
Movies that have this are Rear Window, The Shinning etc.
Titles Using Animation or Motion:
These are more technologically advanced and requires alot of digital tech and editing.
Movies that have this are Casino Royale, Catch Me If You Can etc.
