RESEARCH- marco & micro film evaluation- BLOG POST 13

The Conjuring
Micro Analysis:
Camera: Through out the opening sequence there wasn't any camera shots as there was only images from news articles etc. and the majority was just close up on words and images.
Editing: Snippets and clips of books, news paper articles that faded to each other or cut quickly.
Mise-en-scene: The location and setting was shown through news articles, Characters were shown and introduced but there was no performance.
Sound: Dark, Slow, Scary creepy music was throughout the opening scene.



Marco Analysis:
Key plot: Based on Historic Event (shown through news paper articles and images on the actual people who the movie is based on)
Order of Intro: Characters were shown first then location and historical events that link to the movies context were shown.
Characters that are introduced: The Perron Family were introduced first then the Warren family.

Camera: Close up and location shot. Long shots are used and action shots.
Match Cuts are used for when characters are walking and running etc.
Editing: Match cuts are smooth and scenes cut quickly (no fading)
Mise-en-scene: Warehouse is the location shown. Actress is introduced (no name or context just performance). Main character is introduced and narrative is given away.
Sound: Screaming. diegetic sounds and scary music in background. Name calling.
 
The Shining
Micro Analysis:
Camera: Birds eye view the whole time until location is introduced then its a long shot.
Editing: cuts to different scenes of roads and mountains (location)
Mise-en-scene: Shows location and setting. no performance as there are no characters introduced. mountains and main location is shown (The "Overlook Hotel")
Sound: Scary, Ominous music throughout.



Marco Analysis:
Key Plot: The car is introduced but very little narrative, context and characters are given. Location shows that they are in the middle of nowhere and the Hotel (Main location) is shown.
Order of Intro: Scenic clips are shown of location but the hotel (Main location) is shown at the end.
Characters: none are introduced
