What is the
purpose of a title sequence and film opening?
The purpose
of a title sequence and opening scene is to set the tone for the rest of the
movie and to intrigue the audience so they know what to expect. The opening
scene sets a standard for the rest of the movie as it is often used to give
away the context, narrative and genre and creates the tone of the movie before
the movie actually starts.
The other
purpose of the title sequence and opening scene is to introduce the Director, actors,
producers and cast as well as introducing the characters. Different movies have
different title sequences depending on the genre, i.e. horror movies would use
graphic images and sinister music to show that the movie is a horror where as a
comedy would use funny context based graphics/animations etc.
