An audience is
essentially the consumer of the product. This means the viewers and listeners
of the movies.
A target audience is a smaller group of people with similar preferences and characteristics that the product is actually aimed at.

It is very useful for films to have target audiences because
film producers want their film to get the most amount of views to make the
biggest profits. This is best achieved when conventions are used for specific
people to get them interested in the first place to the movie. Target audiences
preferences also help making decisions of what to or not to include because it
is all based around them.
I conducted a survey to find out what movies people liked
and what genres they liked. The results are on this website:
