Why is Sound Important?
Sound is noises heard through out the movie, George Lucas (Director of the star wars franchise) said that sound is 50% of the movie and i agree as without any words, context or music it is near impossible to tell what is going on, the type of movie it is and the narrative in general. Through developments in sound over the years we have different techniques e.g. soundscape ,a combination of sound to create a more realistic and engaging environment (similar to "suspending disbelief" which is a technique used where the audience is engaged through use of music and sound).

Without sound (both diegetic and non-diegetic) movies that are meant to be fast paced and exciting will become boring, confusing and overall not interesting whereas with sound it creates a atmosphere for the movie and speech is also very important as it helps provide the audience with context and shows the narrative and storyline of the movie.
