-Sub genre: a subdivision of a genre of film (a main genre with other themes of another genre mixed in it)
-Hybrid genre: a blend of 2 or more themes to create its own genre for example, action comedy or comedy horror.
-Genre tropes: something within a genre, a generic trait in the movie.
Furthermore, I have learnt that just because a genre is one genre it doesn't mean that there can't be any other genre mixed in with it. Also, I learnt that in genre's there are codes and conventions that you have to stick to in order to conform to what the genre is.
The first genre that I like is comedy. This is mainly because the film makes me laugh and feel as if you are actually in the movie yourself. Furthermore, because comedy is a genre that a lot of people enjoy, it can somewhat relate to what you may have going on in your life.
The second genre that i enjoy is action. This is because there is an element of surprise and drama mixed in, which helps keep the audience on the edge of their seats constantly during the movie. Also, because action is typically seen as a 'manly' genre the target audience for action movies is mainly men aged 24 and above.
The final genre i like is teen/ high school movies. This is mainly because the plot of the story is either very generic but occasionally there is a teen movie that challenges that theme. Also i like teen movies because the outcome is always the same but there is always somewhat of a twist in the middle which varies from one movie to the other.
